Summer Update

October 8th, 2010

Well, we had one VERY amazing summer!!!  Unfortunately I was having WAY too much fun to take the time to update our blog.  However, if you are friends with us, add me on Facebook and you can see photos from our summer travels on my Facebook page.

After Luc finished classes in Italy we went to…

  1. Brussels
  2. Atlanta (for GC session)
  3. Tennessee (Southern Adventist University)
  4. Oshawa, Ontario
  5. British Columbia
  6. South Dakota
  7. Hollywood
  8. Bangkok, Thailand
  9. And finally arrived at our new home– East Timor (known locally as Timor-Leste)

So, there is OBVIOUSLY a large gap of fantastic travels here, but this list is the best I can do for now.  We have been in Timor-Leste for about a month and a half now, and we LOVE IT!  We are getting settled and are really enjoying our new home and new friends here.

This year I am home schooling the kids– 1st grade and 3rd grade.  I have been at it for a week now, and I can tell this will be a whole other adventure for sure!

Luc is starting an ADRA Timor-Leste office here and is quite excited about the challenge.  There is SO much aide work needed here, so finding ADRA donor country offices to support Timor-Leste should be the easy part.  Knowing where to start with the projects will be another story!

Thank you all for your support.  Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!

My favorite place in Florence

June 5th, 2010

I believe I have seen one of the most beautiful garden’s in the world!  It is Isolotto’s Bacin at Giardino di Boboli behind the Pitti Palace in Florence.  It’s a beautiful lemon tree garden and water feature.  I was overcome with amazement!!!  I love it!

Back in Italy

June 4th, 2010

It’s wonderful to be back in Italy!  We are here while Luc continues to work on his second Masters.  It is a Masters Degree in International Development.  I’m loving being back… hello GELATO!!!

Belgium

May 30th, 2010

We had a good stay in Belgium, even if it was very cold there!  Luc got to spend some time with his 91 year old grandfather.  He’s still doing well!  After a weekend in the village of Houffaize we headed back to the city of Brussels for our flight the next day.  We got to enjoy a walk through the Grand Place and had some Belgian fries along with some Belgian waffles.

First Stop: Holland

May 29th, 2010

We landed safely in Brussels on Wednesday morning, got into our rental car and drove straight to Holland.  We’ve been having a good visit here with Luc’s Mom’s family.  Yesterday, we visited Alkmaar for the first time.  After at least 7 visits to Holland, I FINALLy saw the Alkmaar Cheese Market that I’ve always wanted to see!  Today we will drive back to Belgium and stay in Houffalize at Luc’s grandfather’s house.
